Liuchao Jin is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) under the supervision of Prof. Wei-Hsin Liao. Liuchao is a recipient of the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS). His research focuses on 3D/4D printing, smart materials and structures, and soft robotics. His work integrates machine learning-driven design methodologies with additive manufacturing techniques to develop novel materials with enhanced mechanical performance and adaptability. Liuchao is a visiting scholar at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and Shenzhen University (SZU). Liuchao obtained his bachelor's degree from the Sichuan University - Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) before pursuing his Ph.D. He has also gained research experience as a Mitacs Globalink Research Intern at McGill University and a Research Assistant at Westlake University. In addition to his research, he is an active member of ASME, SPIE, and 4D Printing Society.
